Topaz
Topaz, fire in Sanskrit is the likely root of Topaz. This gem was used in ancient Egypt and Rome. Popularity and fame, as a gem stone came as late as in the eighteenth century, in Spain and France. Topaz appeared with diamond in many magnificent pieces of jewelry in this period. It wasn't till early nineteenth century that it was regarded as the most stylish gem for earrings and necklaces in France and England. Since then there has been no looking back. It has the reputation of being the finest yellow stone to this day.
